In honor of Juneteenth, a free live virtual event presented by American Ancestors and the National Urban League. You are cordially invited to witness the power of family history as we bring lost names, stories, and families back into the light. Together, we’ll honor the lives of 10 million enslaved people and begin to repair what was never meant to be restored. Hear from Marc H. Juneteenth Event: African American Genealogy Research: Resources and Strategies

The Delaware City Library will present a dual presentation from local experts, Leah Greer, Archivist, Delaware Public Archives and Rosalyn Green, President, Afro-American Historical and Genealogical Society, Delaware Chapter. Black Family History at the Delaware Public Archives will highlight resources available at the Delaware Public Archives for researching Black family history within Delaware. AAHGS will delve into your personal genealogical research strategy with specific techniques on how to break through the African American brickwall for ancestors who were enslaved and tips for finding records of enslaved and free African-American ancestors. Exploring Genealogy in Honor of Fathers and Freedom

This Juneteenth genealogy presentation by Karran Harper Royal will highlight fathers who descend from some of the largest families enslaved by the Jesuit priests of Georgetown University. These families were listed for sale on June 19, 1849 and ripped apart when they were sold to separate sugar planters. A discussion will follow with Kenneth N. Royal and Alfred Green, fathers involved in genealogy, from the GU272 descendants. They will talk about the accomplishments and benevolence of the male descendants and share their stories. Juneteenth at the Museum of the American Revolution

The Museum of the American Revolution is hosting numerous exhibitions in celebration of Juneteenth, the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the end of slavery in the United States. The date commemorates the day in 1865 when the abolition of slavery reached the deepest parts of the former Confederacy in Texas. Explore the Juneteenth events at the museum here

2025 Delaware City-Polktown Juneteenth Observance Event

The 2025 Delaware City-Polktown Juneteenth Event Planning Committee invites you to a solemn Commemorative Service at the African Union Church Cemetery beginning at 10am. The service will include spiritual and patriotic music, raising of the American and Juneteenth Flags, speeches from historians, an Archaeologist and elected officials, a wreath laying ceremony, and a recitation of the soldiers’ names. During the afternoon and evening, there will be a Black-Owned Businesses and Organizations Cultural Expo at Delaware City Battery Park. There will be many artists performing throughout the event. AAHGS Sandhills: Juneteenth Soldiers of Northeastern North Carolina

Sandhills Chapter is partnering with Lewis Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, Fayetteville, North Carolina to host “Juneteenth Soldiers of Northeastern North Carolina” presented by Marvin Tupper Jones on June 19, 2025. We will celebrate the legacy of Black North Carolina soldiers who took part in the 1865 military action in Galveston, Texas. The soldiers’ participation helped enforce emancipation.

  • 2:00pm – 3:00pm: Connect with genealogy experts who will assist attendees in beginning or advancing their family history research.
