About this event

Join the African-American Genealogy Group of Kentucky for their Third Saturday presentation, Rosenwald Schools: Mirrors, Windows, and Sliding Doors. Dr. LeDatta Grimes will demonstrate the importance of Rosenwald School records and how they can help document your family history.

This virtual event will be held on Saturday, February 15 at 1:00 pm eastern. Register here!

A scholar, historian, educator, and journalist, Dr. LeDatta Grimes holds a PhD in history from the University of Kentucky.  Her scholarship concerns Black communities, education, and activism in the 19th and early 20th centuries. Specifically, she studies Rosenwald Schools, a distinct body of schools built for and by Black communities from 1912-1932.

She is now an independent scholar working with the University of Kentucky's Commonwealth Institute of Black Studies to research African American life at Mammoth Cave. Before this, she served as an oral historian at Clemson University.
