AAGGKY - ESCAPE! Boone County Underground Railroad Rediscovered (Virtual)

About this event

The Underground Railroad history in Kentucky's northernmost county was largely lost to time for generations, but efforts over the last decade have brought this important history back to public view. Through the stories of several freedom seekers, participants will learn about the "who, why, and how" of Boone County's UGRR, how this information was discovered and the importance of acknowledging the humanity and agency of those who escaped enslavement.

The presentation will be given by Hillary Delaney, the lead researcher for the African Americans in Boone County History initiatives at Boone County Public Library's Archive and History Center.

The African-American Genealogy Group of Kentucky focuses on aspects of genealogical research unique to the African American community, especially in Kentucky.  "The Group" meets monthly on Third Saturdays and at other times when we have the opportunity to share.  We would be delighted to have you join us.
