Using several families that were enslaved on the same plantation as case studies, this presentation by Michael G. Hait, Jr. will demonstrate research that meets the Genealogical Proof Standard. Examples of reasonably exhaustive research, evidence analysis, correlation, and resolving conflicts will be presented.

This class is presented live at the Family History Library in Salt Lake City as part of the Joy Reisinger Memorial Lecture Series and is being broadcasted by Legacy Family Tree Webinars.

About the speaker:

Michael G. Hait, Jr., CG®, AG®, works as a genealogist for the United States federal government. He has published numerous articles in the Maryland Genealogical Society Journal, the New York Genealogical and Biographical Record, the National Genealogical Society Quarterly, and The Genealogist. He won the NGS Family History Writing Contest in 2012 and the ASG Scholar Award in 2021.
