From Enslavement to Endurance: The Story of Trinity United Methodist Church
About this event
Did you know that one of Houston’s oldest African American institutions began in 1848, when enslaved individuals gathered in faith to worship together? By 1851, they built a humble wooden church in downtown Houston. After Emancipation in 1865, the congregation secured land at Travis, Bell, and Clay—laying a foundation for generations to come.
